The large scale urban regeneration of East Manchester, one of the UK’s most deprived areas began in 2006, but one row of 5 terraced houses stubbornly resisted demolition. The street was at the heart of the sprawling Clayton West estate and was making a defiant stand against the bulldozers as Manchester City Council searched for the properties owner, desperate to serve the last CPO and finish the clearance.

 

The area surrounding Parrott St  is an eerie place, the streets still criss-cross, marking the layout of a once thriving community.
